A Ball Drops in Times Square, circa 1918

In today’s Paper Lantern Writers blog, I take you back to New York’s Time Square on New Year’s Eve 1918.
The world war is over, maybe the Spanish influenza is over, and thousands of war-weary soldiers are in town. It’s the perfect moment to go wild and celebrate.
Or is it?
Have you ever been to a Times Square ball drop? Or do you watch it faithfully every NYE?

And yes, my BENEATH A MIDWINTER MOON short story X Marks the Spot takes place at the very same evening and location!
