As much as I love reading and writing novels, I also love reading and writing a good short story.

The whole anthology is a jewel, but I’m really partial to my story, in which three vaudeville performers—a self-absorbed knife-thrower, his newly-pregnant target-girl wife, and a perceptive magician—collide on New Year’s Eve in 1918 New York City.
